With festival season 2017 starting off with a bang with Ultra Miami and Beyond Wonderland just weeks ago, I finally was able to kick off this year with a new festival, Phoenix Lights! After attending Decadence Arizona 2016, I already knew that Relentless Beats threw amazing events and put together such diverse line ups, so I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to head back to Phoenix.
Merely two days before the festival, Relentless Beats founder Thomas Turner announced that due to circumstances out of the festival’s hands, the event had to be moved from the Margaret T. Hance Park to the Rawhide Western Town and Event Center. Turner assured attendees that the event would still go on, even providing shuttles from the original venue to the Rawhide. Despite the setback, the shuttles were extremely efficient for such a last minute change! Another unfortunate setback were wristbands not being mailed out in time. Luckily, there was never a line and we were able to get our wristbands quickly.
Once inside the festival, all of our stress and worries went away! Phoenix Lights also gave me the opportunity to check out different artists that I’ve been wanting to see such as Tchami, Manilla Killa, Thomas Jack, Josh Wink, and K?D. I’ve become a lot more independent when it comes to leaving my friends to see other artists and at first, it’s scary to be just by yourself, but my advice is to never let anyone hold you back! You can always meet up with them afterward! But of course, there were other artists I could not miss out on some of the big headliners such as Alesso, Illenium, Dr. Fresch, and Pete Tong! I wish more events had such a diverse lineup, but at least I got to experience my first Phoenix Lights!
While we all danced the day away, the heroic Rangers were walking around the festival grounds spraying everyone with squirt bottles to cool everyone off! I also met so many new friends, definitely felt the love from each individual, and I even got hang out with the iHeartRaves family, Minnie, Tiny Dancer, and Mama Unicorn! Without all of you, my first ever Phoenix Lights would have not been amazing. Thank you so much, Phoenix Lights for the amazing vibes, awesome music, and for pulling off yet another fantastic event. Even with the setback of changing venues days before the event, you guys managed to kick ass and prove to everyone that nothing will stop you from throwing events! Can’t wait until the next event!
