Nocturnal Wonderland is making a move to Glen Helen Regional Park in Southern California for its 22nd year. As Insomniac’s longest running festival, Nocturnal Wonderland holds a very special place in SoCal raver’s hearts. This festival has been a staple of rave culture, community, and incredible dance music for over 20 years. This year, owner Pasquale Rotella has announced they are really going to zero in on those principals that have made it so popular and bring it back to its roots.
Multiple changes have been announced as we gear up to head back to Wonderland. Most noteworthy, the festival moves to a new weekend this year. Downsizing from a three-day massive, Nocturnal Wonderland will take place on Friday, September 15th and Saturday, September 16th, 2017. It is unclear why Insomniac chose to move it from Labor Day Weekend, but very exciting that it is still in the month of September as Southern California fall weather is perfect this time of year for camping and dancing all night long.
In addition to the date change, the festival will be smaller this year. Limiting capacity and enhancing the layout and design will make for a more boutique camping festival experience. Anyone who attended the last few years can attest to how much Nocturnal has grown. It’s very exciting to think about the same amazing vibes in a more intimate setting.
Finally, the lineup. Nocturnal quickly became my favorite festival due to its eclectic lineup hosting a wide variety of artists. And this year is no exception! From heavy hitting bass all-stars to up-and-coming house producers, this year’s lineup really hits the mark. It is a smaller list of artists due to the downsizing, but there is no absence of talent. Focusing on bringing new talent to the big stages and upholding the unique vibe it is so known for, this lineup is not to be overlooked.
Nocturnal Wonderland is my all-time favorite festival and falls just two days before my birthday this year. See you there!
