We are already half way through July, but I’m still glowing from EDC Vegas. The music, the moments, the memories all replay in my head through out the days and the whole experience was perfect, but the main thing I loved, was Mija’s one of a kind set. It was fun, the vibes were special, and she absolutely killed it!
I had never seen Mija play before but I love her music and vibe so I wanted to make sure that me and my group definitely saw her at EDC. She started off by telling everyone in the crowd, “I’m gonna take you guys on a little journey, alright?”, and a beautiful, fun, heartfelt journey is exactly what her set took me on!
If I could use one word to describe her set, it would be unforgettable, and here’s why!
The beginning of her set kicked off with dope tunes to get the crowd moving, and we were all definitely feeling it! The energy was electric and everybody was on another level of excitement. Mija mixed each song perfectly and set the mood to make us all get down on the dance floor and feel good. She mixed in some of my favorite tunes from the Howsla compilation, she brought some cool futuristic space vibes when she played her song with Billy Kenny, and The whole first half of her set was focused on getting the crowd dancing with lots of energy! Song after song she did not disappoint and I remember jumping, moving and having a blissful feeling that nothing else mattered but that exact moment of fun and good times.
About 46 minutes in, she gets on the mic and says, “I wanna make you feel something alright”, as she switched up the sound from dance to rock, and played the song ‘Sowing Season (Yeah)” by Brand New to bring on a whole new vibe. From there, Mija transitioned into another one of my favorite tracks, “Nowhere” by Josh Pan. I love the cool vibes in that song and she made it even better when the music takes a little break half way through, and proceeds to tell us, “no matter how bad the world may seem that we hold the power with love and unity”. It was so comforting to hear and such a beautiful feeling for all of us in the crowd to come together and feel that beautiful unifying moment.
Further into her set she mixed in a variety of sounds! She played tunes from Chase & Status to Panic! At The Disco, and even John Lennon. I loved the versatility in the music and it created such an amazing atmosphere to be a part of.
As Mija’s set is coming to an end, she gets on the mic to talk to us about how her very first festival was EDC in 2010! She talks about the different DJ’s she saw and the music she listened to. She mentioned how she heard “Cinema” by Benny Benassi and “I Remember” by Deadmau5 and Kaskade, and then mixed the two songs together to make this amazingly beautiful blend that set such a euphoric vibe. Still til this day I close my eyes, I remember the exact moment she played this mix and the way it made me feel. Sitting in the grass, surrounded by amazing people, listening to the ending of her set, being so into it and just feeling pure happiness.
The beginning of her set was amazing, the middle was mind blowing, and the ending was absolutely perfect! I was loving it so much that I didn’t even realize that the sun was all the way up in the sky already. I danced like I never danced before and within that hour and a half, I was able to truly let go of all the problems of the outside world, be in that very moment and just feel! It was like therapy for me. I can honestly say that her set wasn’t just my favorite set at EDC, but it was one of my favorite sets of all time! It was amazing and something I will never forget.
Luckily she posted the audio from her set on her Soundcloud so we can all relive that amazing moment! So turn up your volume, press play, and be prepared to get completely in your feels!
