He’s done it again!
The Insomniac spearhead Pasquale Rotella heated up an already scolding hot summer for east coast EDM fans when he released the lineup for his annual EDC branch out in Florida, EDC Orlando. And needless to say, he nailed it.
No matter your opinion on it (there’s always those who either do not see the quality in a great lineup or for reasons unbeknownst to many just refuse to), Pasquale and the Insomniac crew eloquently crafted a masterpiece of genre blending that has made EDC Orlando one of the most well-rounded and rich in talent festival lineups of the year. Team Insomniac put their creativity into high gear bringing a little flavor of everything for everyone, making this one of the most diverse lineups I have ever seen.
For starters, they brought some big guns from the “mainstage” category, which includes those taboo-topic mainstream acts. As if bringing the reigning two-time DJ Mag #1 DJ in the world in Hardwell wasn’t enough star-power, but following up with The Chainsmokers, a duo who are arguably the hottest act in EDM and currently have the top ranked song in the country, is icing on the cake.
Insomniac also made sure to bring three acts who are known for their wizardry in live events. These acts are pure EDM elite and have three of the largest cult followings in the world. Porter Robinson will be kicking it old school with what is sure to be an enthralling DJ set, Nero is bringing the live-music aspect in what will be an electrifying and magnificent spectacle, and Above & Beyond will surely have Central Florida entranced from the time the button is pressed.
Trap fans get their fill with the likes of the now two-man group Yellow Claw, the live band trio Keys N Krates, and my personal favorite act at EDC Orlando 2014, Brillz. Bass fans will surely welcome their king Bassnectar with open arms and ferocious head-banging, and Jauz will attack the crowd with his future bass vibes. Trance fans get to bask in the glory of Dash Berlin and Cosmic Gate, House fans can dance the night away with Axwell, Morgan Page, and W&W, and people that simply put just want to get down and dirty can rock out with Alison Wonderland, Kayzo, 12th Planet, Valentino Khan, and RL Grime.
Throw in such names as Borgeous, Markus Schulz, Simon Patterson, Boombox Cartel, Bixel Boys, Don Diablo, and so many more, and you see the immense diversity set to descend onto Tinker Field on November 4-5. On a personal note, my experiences at EDC Orlando have been nothing short of spectacular and I always mention EDC Orlando 2013 as one of my most memorable and amazing experiences of my entire life. And I cannot wait for the Electric Sky to once again immerse the sunshine state. Insomniac never does wrong, so come one, come all, and enjoy an east coast festival that is sure to be one for the record books.
Job well done, Pasquale, job well done.
