Recently I got the chance to catch up with one of my favorite music trio’s Cash Cash ahead of their upcoming appearance for Life In Color San Diego where the producers are sure to bring their signature blend of powerhouse pop ballads and killer drops for some emotional healing and bootie shaking. The trio seems to have taken on the task of building a bridge between pop and dance music fan bases in recent years which isn’t an easy task when dealing with a community of fans that can be dismissive of all things “Pop” music. Never the less Cash Cash have used their popularity and deft production skills to gain a cult following as well as given themselves a platform to help up and coming artists. They were kind enough to make me an exclusive playlist to share as well as answer a couple of questions!
You recently put out a joint single with Rozes called “Matches” can you tell me how the collaboration came about?
When we heard Rozes voice we new we wanted to do a song with her. She has such a vibey original tone and it works so well over electronic music. We played a show together in Philly and hit it off so we decided to make it happen! She was really easy to work with and we were both really excited on how special it came out.
Having a residency with Hakkasan group has been beyond amazing. We are able to do a lot of things we might not normally do in a regular club. We have the production completely tied into to our “Cash Is King” party and are able to do fun things like break out an acoustic guitar in the middle of the set and get the whole crowd singing camp fire style. These shows have been some of the most memorable shows we’ve ever played. I definitely recommend coming out and experiencing it at one of our Hakkasan or Omnia shows. You never know what’s gonna happen…We’ve also had some special guests come up and sing a few songs and are all able bringing our friends out to party.
Come on, everybody knows what happens in Vegas stays in vegas…next question! 🙂
We thought the whole idea of finding an upcoming producer to open for us was amazing. We’re all about giving back to upcoming artists and what a better way then to have one open up for us at a sold out show. Yntendo rules and I think they are doing things right. There’s something very fresh about them and I see big things in their near future.
We’ve been so lucky to share the stage and work with inspiring artists in our career. John Rzeznik from the Goo Goo Dolls was a trip to work with given how much he influenced us growing up. Busta Rhymes and Nelly were also two amazing artists we collated with. They are legends and we definitely made some priceless memories together.
We’ve been working on a ton of new songs and plan to release a single very 6-8 weeks. You can expect to hear some songs that will remind you of the classic Cash Cash, but also hear some songs in styles we’ve never done before. We’re all about keeping things new and fresh and aren’t afraid to push the envelope a bit.
