Why You Should Add Shambhala To Your Festival Bucket List

Held annually at Salmo River Ranch in British Columbia, is an electronic music festival known as Shambhala. It will take place August 11-14 and is a celebration of music, art and life, steeped in one of the most beautiful festival venues in the world. I have heard nothing but the most amazing things about this festival and what the experience is like.  This will be my first time attending, and I am so excited! Here a couple of reasons why…

The Ranch makes it unique

Why? Because back in 1998 a group of people gathered at the ranch to party and just have a good time surrounded by local music and art. Since then it has transformed, becoming a huge event in the electronic music scene, attracting world renowned DJs such as Excision and Skrillex. Even though the festival has grown in such magnitude it doesn’t lose its values. Still to this day, it remains a true reflection of the community. Whether it’s on the dance floor, through the amazing art or all the locally sourced food at the venue.  I’ve also heard the vibes from the festival goers to the staff and artists is like no other. And I don’t know about you, but I’m ready to experience this so called “Shambhalove”

And every experience is unique

There is no wrong way to experience Shambhala, every experience is unique. From relaxing in the hammock lounge to getting hitched at the wedding chapel, your path is your own to discover. I’m looking forward to finding out what my spirit animal is by spinning the wheel at the ranch that features animals that live in the habitat. I also can’t wait to see the Wish Tree and put a wish on it, as well as find out my fellow Shambhala-goers wishes.  And did I mention there is a parade!? This will be their first annual Sunset Parade, not much info on it yet but the theme is to show your “true self” sounds fun right? 🙂

The music and vibes

Shambhala has six uniquely themed stages and all bring a different vibe. I’m looking forward to walking around to each of these stages and getting to experience all of them. The lineup this year is so stacked. Filled with artists that I love and others that I can’t wait to discover. The four artists I’m looking forward to the most are:

Did anyone catch her set at EDC this year? It was so amazing. I’ve been listening to her for quite awhile and I still can’t get enough, she never disappoints at shows. The dark ambiance and gripping melodies, I’m all about it. So I can’t wait to hear what I know is going to be an amazing set.

Chris Lake

I saw his set recently at Paradiso Festival and I was really into it. It was so fun to listen and groove to! I’m sure his set at Sham will be just as fun and I intend to be there and groove to it.

Justin Martin

Who else loves house music? I have to make sure I get in my house fix at Shambhala so I will definitely be at this set. I first saw Justin Martin at Dirtybird BBQ and I was an instant fan, and have loved listening and dancing to him ever since.

Adventure Club

I have so much love for them. “Crash” is still one of my all time favorite songs. And have you heard their remix Crash 2.0 with Dion Timmer? SO GOOD.  I haven’t seen them since EDC last year so I’m really looking forward to this reunion.

And so there you have it,  those are my reasons why I’m so excited for the trip and to create these experiences and memories. And seeing how this year is Shambhala’s 20th anniversary, I’m sure they have lots of surprises in store. If you are considering Shambhala for next year, definitely don’t delay since tickets once they go on sale, sell out pretty quickly for this festival.
